How to burn a Solen candle
Three small things. They make a real difference.
i. Trim the wick.
Before every burn, trim the cotton wick to five millimetres. Use small scissors or your fingers. A long wick burns hot and uneven; a short wick burns slow and clean.
ii. Let the first burn finish.
The first time you light a Solen candle, let it burn for at least two hours. The wax should melt all the way to the edge of the glass. This is called “memory burn” — the wax remembers. If you blow it out early, it will tunnel forever after.
iii. Let it breathe.
Never burn for more than four hours at a time. Keep the candle away from drafts and direct sunlight. Allow the wax to fully cool — about an hour — before relighting.
When the wax is finished, the obsidian vessel is yours to keep. Wash it warm. Use it for matches, for flowers, for whatever needs a small dark home. Or send it back and we will refill it for half the price of a new candle.
Light it slowly.
